I, Nicole Guild, started JB Sport Trim in 99. Me being my crafty self was trying to redo a seat on my jetski and the cover I bought just didn’t match the color right. My grandfather tore it all apart and made a pattern to replace the pieces that didn’t match. He taught me to sew them together on his old Singer machine with the fancy iron foot pedal. I ended up putting back together the cover that didn’t match and sold it on eBay. After it sold so fast, I thought why not try to make and sell more? They sold so well that I started adding models and creating designs and throwing in colors and it just boomed from there. I owe this all to my grandfather, Hank Vaartjes. He came here from the Netherlands and used to own his own upholstery shop there specializing in sun awnings, tents and tops for tractors. He passed in 2019 from Alzheimer’s. He taught me all I needed to know that lead me into doing my upholstery business.
